Life Before Becoming A Celebrant.....

Having worked in theatre for over 20 years, across London's West End, regional theatres and on screen; both as a performer and a creative I am sure it will not surprise you that I am very much accustomed to holding the space and speaking infront of a congregation of people, no matter the size.

With my creative mind and my love to help people, in recent years I have found great joy in teaching – from as young as 2 years old to the golden ages of 92 (where at that stage I am not sure who is inspiring who). Utilising my communication skills and being attuned to listening to others needs I have found this to be very rewarding.

Through life experience of being a father, partner, son, brother, and uncle I have lived, loved and lost more than once so I understand the highs and lows of this journey we call ‘Life’.

Why Become A Celebrant....

I was very close to my Grandmother (affectionaly known as Nanny Doreen), she always offered words of wisdom and gave me compassionate understanding when navigating life’s tricky turns. When she passed in 2021 I spoke at her funeral - for me it was a very small gesture and a way of giving back the love and support she had always given me. After speaking I felt this wave of inner contentment - I took some time to think about what it was and where it had come from. On reflection I discovered that what really mattered and made me happy was understanding people and helping them to celebrate the uniqueness of their stories.

After lots of research, I undertook professional training at the International College of Professional Celebrants and I am honoured and privileged to have truly found my vocation.

I continue to develop my skills as a Celebrant with regular CPD training courses to broaden my skillset and ensure I remain in the best position to support families and thier needs.

Jonathan At Home....

When not writing/delivering bespoke ceremonies or teaching I can be found hiking the English countryside, mountain biking with friends, listening to my LP player or enjoying a kitchen disco!

Most importantly my time is spent with my loved ones, making precious memories and planning the next adventure!

I am blessed to be reminded of the wonders of the world through the eyes of my 2 year old daughter, who is simply incredible...and a little rascal at times -but what 2 year old isn't right?!!!
